I feel so honoured when a couple come to me and ask me to be such a big part of their special day and create their wedding cake! The first thing to do if you are interested in booking me to create your dream wedding cake is to check that your wedding date is free, then book in for a consultation. Dates get booked up very quickly and very far in advance, so it is never too early to book!

A few things to think about before coming to your consultation

What style of cake would you like?…

Have a think about what style cake you would like. Would you like a traditional tiered cake, or maybe a cupcake tower? Something grand and elegant, or something simple and rustic? Having a rough idea of this will help when it comes to deciding what size cake you have, which brings you on to the next section.

Sizing

If you would like a big grand all singing all dancing wedding cake, but you don’t have lots of guests and don’t want loads of leftovers, then a polystyrene dummy cake tier is a great option to use as a cake replacement. These will be iced and decorated in the same way as a normal cake therefore nobody would know any different!
Alternatively, if you have a lot of guests at your wedding but would just like a small simple wedding cake design, then I can make a cutting cake that can be kept in the kitchen out of site which will then be cut up and served with the rest of the cake to make up the portions.
Once you have finalised your guest list you will then have a good idea of how many people you need your wedding cake to feed. The next thing to do is to decide what size you would like your servings to be. This will then determine what size cake would work best for you.

Different size options is something we can discus together at your consultation, but to give you an idea I have put together a chart below which shows you the number of portions you would get based on two popular serving sizes for wedding cakes.

Flavours

Having multiple tiers means you can have multiple flavours, which is great if you have a couple of flavours that you really can’t choose between!
Here is a list of my yummy cake flavour choices, followed by a list of my cupcake flavours.
If there is a specific flavour you would like that isn’t listed, please ask and I will try my very best to accommodate it.

Cake flavours…

  • Vanilla sponge filled and coated with vanilla buttercream and filled with raspberry or strawberry jam.
  • Chocolate sponge filled and coated with chocolate buttercream (chocolate orange also available).
  • Coffee and Walnut sponge filled and coated with coffee buttercream.
  • Zesty Lemon sponge filled and coated with lemon buttercream and filled with lemon curd.
  • Rich chocolate fudge cake filled and coated with chocolate ganache.
  • Rich Fruit cake, packed with nuts and fruit soaked in bandy, covered with apricot jam and marzipan.
  • Lime and coconut sponge filled and coated with lime buttercream and filled with lime curd.
  • White chocolate and raspberry sponge filled and coated with white chocolate buttercream and filled with raspberry jam.
  • Salted Caramel sponge filled and coated with salted caramel buttercream and filled with salted caramel.
  • Lemon and blueberry sponge filled and coated with lemon buttercream and filled with blueberry jam.
  • Almond sponge filled and coated with amaretto buttercream and filled with cherry jam.

Cupcake flavours…

  • Vanilla cupcake with a raspberry or strawberry jam centre topped with vanilla buttercream.
  • Triple chocolate chip cupcake topped with milk chocolate buttercream.
  • Chocolate cupcake with a salted caramel centre topped with salted caramel buttercream.
  • Coffee and Walnut cupcake with a coffebuttercream centre topped with coffee buttercream.
  • Zesty Lemon cupcake with a lemon curd centre topped with lemon buttercream.
  • Lime and coconut cupcake with a lime curd centre topped with lime buttercream.
  • White chocolate and raspberry cupcake with a raspberry jam centre topped with white chocolate buttercream.
  • Almond cupcake with a cherry jam centre topped with amaretto buttercream.

Decoration

The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating your wedding cake. Would you like your cake finished with buttercream, fondant or would you like to keep it simple with a naked cake? Would you like something traditional or something fun? Fresh flowers or sugar flowers? What would fit in with your venue? There are so many options so make sure you look at lots of pictures for inspiration. Check out my gallery along with my Facebook page and Instagram. When you come to your consultation feel free bring along any ideas you have, photos, colour swatches, invitations etc. anything that you would like incorporated in your wedding cake design.

Cake stands

A cake stand can really lift and transform the look of your wedding cake. I have a few different styles and sizes available for hire, although many venues also have them available which are often included in your package. So this is something that might be worth checking before you come to your consultation.

Price Guide

Every single wedding cake is bespoke and individually designed specifically to meet your requirements, so prices vary but here are some starting prices for my smallest sizes iced in fondant with a simple design to give you a rough guide.

2 tiers from £130
3 tiers from £195
4 tiers from £300
5 tiers from £400

Cupcake towers from £125 (based on 30 cupcakes with a buttercream swirl and a 6-inch iced cake on the top)

Delivery and set up

As part of the service I will deliver and set up your wedding cake at your venue on the morning of your wedding day. I will contact your Venue to arrange this which is one less thing for you to worry about.

Ordering and payment

A deposit of 25% will secure your date with the remaining balance due 3 weeks before the big day. Payment can be made with cash, bank transfer or cheque. Bank transfers and cheques must have cleared before the due date so please allow time for this.
